Hey

Does anyone have some good cost effective solutions for partitioning a 180 litre Jewel Rio?

Have a yellow lab holding and would like to keep her away from the male for a while!

Hey Gav, If you go to a crafts shop, they tend to do large sheets of plastic sheets with tiny grates in between. Im not sure exactly what its called but someone on here mentioned it the other week.

Think they said egg crate, but it looked more like mesh but plastic, it was something like 75p for a meter haha so get yourself to a hobby and craft shop they should have something extremely cheap and viable.

This is what I have used in the past, its not egg crate though, egg crate is rigid and has large holes. I believe it is used for cross-stitch, its pretty cheap and really effective.
I would also sugget buying some of the plastic paper holders and siliconing them into the tank you can then slide the plastic sheets in and out of the tank easily.

You can get egg crate with smaller holes, but I would say it wouldnt be great for the fish as the edges could be sharp, and being rigid doesnt mix with a fish's delicate nose :) As you are in the UK you can buy this from HobbyCraft.

This is one that i did for a smaller tank.

Still going but slightly discoloured when out of colour but not noticeable under water.

If you make it as a permanent addition I would turn it into a moss wall just food for thought

That is a great idea!
How long would it take for the moss to cover that size?

I have some of that plastic mesh left and was thinking whether it could be siliconed to some smooth slate a bit like an old aircraft hangar and then cover it with moss. What kind of moss would be suitable for either application?

Depends on lighting and whether you fertilize and dose CO2 but around 3 months. I used Christmas tree moss but practically any moss can be used.
