So im still stuck with what to use for filtration for dividing my 4ft into four/possibly five sections. I feel like im chasing my tail and being so indecisive. I have thought of an under gravel filter but im nto convinced the whole tank would be adequately filtered. If i use an external filter i can run the spray bar across the top some how or across the back of the tank. Im looking at an Aquaone CF 700 750L/hr, 100-230L, up to 150L, 1.7 m, 3.0 L, 240V/50Hz, 12 Watt. With there only being bettas in there im thinking ic an get away with a CF 500? Its specs are: 500L/hr, 60-120L, up to 100L, 1.5 m, 2.3 L, 240V/50Hz, 10.5 Watt.

What do you guys think would be the best solution? Once i settle on filtration i can put the dividers in place and get it cycling. I plan to clone it fron my current betta tanks water and also some of my communal 3ft water so it wont need to long to cycle. I just cant decide on the best filtration method. If i chose a spray bar i will need to cut holes through the plastic divider so all areas get adequate circulation...help me...ive the aquarium silicon ready to go, dividers to be bought..just need to sort out filtration!

I would do a multiple height divider style it does mean you lose a cm or two of water height for every divider but is very effective at ensuring the water flows from the inlet to outlet in a divded tank. The simplest is to use acrylic dividers. Say you start from the left and work your way across the external filter outlet comes in and dumps the water in the tank once this water level reaches a set height it goes through holes which are only at the top of the divider and over spills to the next section which has a water level 1cm lower then the first section as it is overspilling at that level into section 3 which has one cm lower water line then section 2 and 2cm lower then section 1, finally you get to section 4 which is one step lower and contains the inlet which then allows the external to pump the water back through the filter and to section 1.

You can adapt this system and have a spray bar which is providing outlet to sections 1 and 2 at the same time with holes at the same height in the divider, then secion 3 and 4 are 1-2cm lower then 1&2 and have the inlet adapted to draw through a spray bar. I woulod use the eheim classic 2215or 2213 as filtration.
