Hey all

Got a few questions about tank dividers.. I think I am being thick here but i have a fully encased pump, filter heater system at one oend of the tank so would it be suitable to divide my tank into 2 or 3 considering one of them will have the box unit in their "enclosure" so to speak???

Hi there

I have a Jewel which is 63l in total, 24"long, 18 high 12 wide. I was thinking because all the unit is at one end of the tank i could use mesh dividers so the current can still flow etc

You could divide it into two sections, im nto sure how big a 63ltr is so the xsections may not be big enough. I divided my two Aquastart 320s wich are 25Ltrs and i split them in half. I used the Penplax dividers but dound the filtration wasnt that great. Its pretty easy to divide tanks with hoods. You just have to cut the plastic to fit and the poles to fit in the bow if its a bow front tank.

Hi, no theres no bow to the tank, just the standard oblong shape. It has a hood also so i think it will be quite easy to divide. Basicall yits to make a Betta tank, one half with my male (me blue) in and the other with either 1 or 3 females or another male

I have that tank too, i took out the filter box and use an Interpet filter. I have successfully divided the tank into 4 sections. (4 males) :good:

cool, I was thinking about just dividing it into 2 or maybe 3... do you think its possible with leaving the box filter in the tank? have you ot pix of your tank?

Yes, thats fine. A good way to be certain is to keep the heater next to the filter and then stick the thermometer on the other side of the tank. If the temperature is what you have set the heater at then flow is good. You could also add an airstone in the opposite side of the filter. Make sure the flow is light of the airstone, because the betta wont like it. :)

Heres my tank (abit messy  )

cool, your set up looks pretty cool, thats basically what I want simple set up with live plants and a cave etc. Speaking of which why do people recommend coconut caves for Bettas? I have a cave in my community tank that my Betta won't go near. The only fish that occasionally use it are the Pandas

 Thanks, thats it looking messy, it needs a clean!

I honestly dont know why people reccommend coconut caves, they all used to use it but now only Oscar (section 3) uses his cave. -_-

yeah mine prefers to just sit on a plant or leaf etc, other than that he scoot along in the community tank without a car ein the world, I'm only moving him because he has started to show aggression towards the yoyo loaches
