Divided Tank Filtration

i have my 10 gal. tank that i am going to divide in half. i have a hob filter. i cant attach a spray bar because it is the waterfall type, but i saw somewhere that you can attach a piece of hose to the intake and thread it to the side of the divider without the filter to make sure you get good flow on that side as well. is that something i should do or would i be ok in the 10 gal?

Id just see if your dividers were low enough that you could have the filter above it and have the intake on one side and the out mostly on the other. thats what im goanna try and do i may have to fudge something to make it work

the only thing with that is the position of the filter cutout one the lid. ill have to fiddle with it....
