Why isn't the treatment for black spot disease anywhere on here? Anyone know? That is vital information. I had to go all over the internet to find out that the treatment for black spot is salt. Someone should put the treatments in that list of diseases. It's as important to know what it is as how to treat it.

If i am not mistaken, isnt black spot a very rare disease?

P.T.

I don't know how rare it is. I think it's fairly common when you add new fish. It's in the beginners questions under the diseases thing at the top. They don't list the treatments. They don't list the treatments for a lot of stuff. Doesn't do us much good if we know what it is, but can't solve the problem.

Black Spot Black Spot, or diplopstomiasis, often follows the addition of new aquarium fish. All fish are susceptible, especially the Silver Dollar and Piranha. It is fairly easy to diagnose and treat.

Symptoms Small black spots on the body.

Treatment Black spot is generally easy to cure. There are a number of commercially available treatments and preventatives

Many diseases have several ways to help cure them. In the description above it says "There are a number of commercially available treatments and preventatives" These will come under a number of different brand names and it would be very difficult to list the exact one that your LFS will stock.

Right, this is an international post, but they should have listed some general cures like this site did: http://watershed3.tripod.com/diseases.html#black . I'm just wondering if anyone knows why this site is missing vital information about diseases, and I'm venting frustration through one of the few venues I can find also. This place did give me the name of the pathogen, so I did get some useful info from here...

Calm down ger; take a breath :)

We all get frustrated when something goes wrong and don't know what to do.
I have never heard of black spot diease and therefore would be in a real panic like you.
However , geting mad at a forum, that's for he most part is extreamley helpful, is not very productive. If you can find out all you can about black spot disease and post it on here then others that come accross it will be able to sort their outbrake without going though the stress that you are right now.
After all we are all here to help eachother, by either supporting one another or learning from each others experiances.

I hope that you can cure this disease and your fish get better.
