Tank size: 80g give or take abit (80g taking gravel and decor roughly into acount)
pH: about 6.5
ammonia: ok
nitrite:eek:k
nitrate:eek:k
kH:?
gH:?
tank temp:27degrees c / 84 f

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): most of the fish infected stay at the bottom except when being fed, no loss of appitite, white like fungus small patches, nothing else has changed from their normal selves.

Volume and Frequency of water changes:25% once a week

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: only normal pad media no carbon atm as its been taken out.

Tank inhabitants:
2 - cichlasoma spilurum-jade eye chiclids
7 - herotilapia multispiosa-rainbow chiclids
6 - parrot chiclids
2 - helostoma temmincki-kissing gourami's
1 - macropodus opercularis-paradise fish

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):2 baby parrot chiclids, ones died, i belive these to be whats caused it all as their the only thing to change from normal.

Exposure to chemicals: they were treated for velvet brought in from some firemouths which all died but was contained to only them but whole tank was treated.

i think it is fungus after reading descriptions but some of the fish have a bit of tail damage, lots of white patches that stick off the body not like worms like patches.

planning on going to a good lfs (wons lots of awards always given me good advice)near me tomorrow to ask them.

any help always appreciated :good:

no they don't really look like that..... not as servre, by along way, it looks abit like ick but its not little dots its patches. could that mean its ick? the fish, well some of them, have partly damaged fins.... one has it around its eye. it only seems that the parrots chiclids are effective anything in this? the kising gourami's don't have any sign nor does the paradise fish or the jade eyes or the rainbow chilids it's just the parrot chiclids?

it doesn't look like velvet either, i know lol i just got rid of it. no they've lost no weight, they've just came down with it since sataurday when i intorduced the new parrots, it wouldn't of been fighting they were only little parrots. alot of the fish have been breeding lately so there was no problem till lately eg. after saturday!

Is it possible to get a pic of the sick fish, does the patches look like a slimey greyish white in colour.

sorry i don't have a digi cam anymore. yeah they are white not really patches but like spots about 3mm across roughly.

quote from that link - Ich is highly contagious, therefore, the entire aquarium and not just a single fish should be treated.

but only my parrot chiclids have it after how long would the rest get it, if it is ick i have a cure in the house. it could well be ick as there are loads of small patches not like the dusting velvet gives it but actual areas.

cheers for all your help so far mate

How long have the new fish been in the tank, well it's a parasite or bacterial infection, just want to check something the spots don't look like a clump of berries or a cauliflower.

they've been in the tank since saturday the new fish( 2 parrot chiclids).

no they don't look like that their just like patches slightly extruding if that's the right word.

Can you issolate the sick fish, as i would try a bacterial med for now, as it a parasite or bacterial infection.

no as there to big for my other tanks and there are 6 parrot chiclids with it so it would have to be a big tank anyway.

should i use the treatment i have - aquarium doctor marine disease treatment mm2 , it's for marine i know but has copper which gets rid of all parisites i know that bit. it's for ick, velvet, fin rot, sore etc. it says?

your a saviour to me thanks so much for your help!

Just want to make sure have the been flicking and rubbing or laboured breathing, no i wouldn't use a marine med, you will need a bacterial med i will find you one.

ye they've been flicking etc. i'll have to read this tomorrow as i need to go so i need to pick up a treatment for baterial infections tomorrow? which is what i'll do if i need to.
