Hello there, i have just had two dwarf gourmai die! The had sore patches on them, looked white! I have been reading that the only way to kill the disease is to steralise the whole tank! I want to add some other gourmari, but not dwarf ones. Could the disease be in the water and be passed on to my new ones? Also what ones would you recomend? Tanks is a Juwel Vision 180. Thanks!

if you are refering to the iridovirus, then you need to sterilise the tank.

personally i wont be getting dwarf gouramis again. Similar fish such as honey gouramis are hardier. This months PFK has a nice gourami article in it you might find useful.

Thick lipped gourami (colisa labiosa) have less problems associated with them than dwarves also and are a similar size.
Friendly too....
You could also try and find some wild dwarf gourami which shouldn't have the inherent problems of tank bred dwarves....
