Hi,

Any advice would be truly grateful......

I recently added new fish to my aquarium – everything fine with the exception of losing 2 tetras within the first week (which i put down to stress of the new environment)

Then a few weeks later i noticed some of the fish behaving oddly... 2 other tetras kept falling to one side and then quickly swimming off and then i noticed my old glowlight had popeye so i immediately thought it was Internal Bacteria and treated with Anti-Internal Bacteria but this just seemed to make the fish go crazy.....

The cardinal tetras were darting from one side of the tank to the other with the glowlights and tetras occasionally joining in and they would crash in to the side of the tank frantically... I read this could be overdose of medication or water pollution so i did a 40% water change and returned the carbon back to the filter.

This seemed to do the trick...until last week when i lost my glowlight that had popeye, and then the fish started to go crazy again so i did a 30% water change and hoped for the best.

My 2 bronze cory's aren't well at all they appear to have greyish patches over them (but not cotton wool like though) and one has like a film over its eye. One minute they are happily digging in the gravel and the next they seem to keep falling to one side and then swimming off but then they lie at the bottom really still for ages – very concerned for them!!!

My black shark is probably the only fish that has been ok through all this – well i think anyway - now i am panicking because he has always had a few pimple like white spots on his nose but i always thought it looked like his complection...daft as it sounds i know.

Now i think they have every disease going and don't know what to do for the best....i think all of the fish have possibly had ICH, the cory's have some kind of fungal infection and sharky's probably got white spot!!!

How do you determine what treatment to use if the symptoms are of more than one disease?

I will try to upload some pics if anyone can help please?

give me some info of your tank the size and whatnot go to the section that says read first in this section and copy your info this will make it easier :) lol thankss

1/2-3/4 dose on meds with scaleless fish like cories or tetras. Id suspect bacterial infection as well. Id re-medicate using appropriate dosage.
Water stats and full stocking/tank size would also be very helpful as mentioned above.
cheers

2 x Glowlight Tetras
6 x Cardinal Tetras
3 x Serpae Tetras

No not at all...

To be honest with you my previous tank of 12 years sprung a leak so i had to get a new one, i did use the water from the old tank but i did have a new filter that came with the tank which didn't seem that powerful ( so i put the old one back in aswell)
I did have an algae problem when i got the new tank but then someone told me to only leave the light on for a minimal time and that seemed to do the trick (aswell as 2 filters pumping)

Cycling could be a factor... i did wait over a year before adding new fish though (which is when the health problems started) and my older fish have been ok... until now.

Another thing i could be doing wrong is... when i had the algae problem i started cleaning the filters every couple of weeks so perhaps i am removing too much of the good bacteria.

The other bronze cory is now standing upright on his tail in the corner of the tank!!!!

Any ideas??

He hasn't looked well since his mate died
