Disease Advice Needed

hi about a week ago i posted a topic about a poorly young giant gourami,that had open white sores on
her that eventually ate her away!
[i bought her from a local giant fish shop which assured me that it wasnt serious and would heal]
today i have lost my large red tail shark to the same flesh eating ;bug;
he was fine yesterday a bit slow but ok, work up this morning to find his mouth half eaten away
with white stuff on the open wound.
he has since died
i have left in the tank 2 large plecs thats it
does anyone have any idea what it may be as i cannot let my plecs suffer with it.
any advice greatfully recieved

Sounds like ulcer disease and mouth rot. You should never buy sick fish from a shop and not quarantine it first.

I dont know about the plecs but they are resilient fish so do water changes quite often and leave the tank for two weeks before adding any other fish just to make sure the plecs dont get it.

Don't know your location but if the flesh is being eaten away you need a good strong antibiotic, but even that could be to late, but if you do have excess to antibiotics and you use it in the main tank it will wipe the bacteria colony out in your filter.
