Sorry about all my constant questions, but I'm new to discus and it's very worrying as they have rather unique behaviour. Right so my discus have started with a hierarchy thing the other day and a my little turquoise (when I say little I mean a few mm shorter max) seems to be their play toy. I don't know whether to move it and let it be lonely or keep it in there and hopefully the other 4 discus help take some attention away from it? It's confusing because I don't want any of them to die and my pigeon blood seems rather aggressive.

I thought they were but it turns out they are both females so I got 4 more like instructed and they seemed happier until this started.

What size is the tank? This I find is quite common for most fish, a pecking order so to speak. It should cease in a few days hopefully.

Yeah, that's what I have been told the tank is a 50G (210L) it's a good 6ft by 2ft by 1.5ft I haven't measured it properly so these are very rough estimates

Some difference between six foot and four foot.
Are they any other tank mates?

i wouldn't worry to much about the pecking order they will settle down if you give it a chance ...try if possible to have some plants that the smaller one can hide in ,after a while it will all settle down to a gentle nudge or the odd chase round the tank,if you do find a pair looking like they may pair up try to let them have the first lot of eggs in the main tank ...they probably wont survive but its good to allow them to breed for the first time in an environment that they are used to ...remember discus need a constant Ph to breed in something along the lines of about Ph6-6.5 other wise the eggs will not develope as there is to much calcium in the water and the eggshells will be to hard and the fry will not grow... my pair lay eggs every week and have done for about a month or so but as i say the Ph is to high...hope this helps a little ...

I'm sorry, I'm not good with feet, I'm Australian we use metres and centimetres
