I had 5 Discus in a 55 Gallon tank running a Fluval 305 canister filter. Tank mates are 3 Corys (calm), 3 Loaches (they just hide and eat snails), a pelco, and a school of cardinal tetras (about 15). I do weekly 20-25% water changes with RODI water, no ammonia (top ever is >0.25 ppm), no nitrates, pH is 6.5. Over the course of the last few months they have, one by one, died. I would come home one day and they would be dead, or close to it. One of them (the only one left alive) is a little larger than the others and would occasionally chase them away. The 2nd largest (and the most recent to go) was also tough and would rarely be chased away, however as soon as the 3rd one died and it was left alone with the largest one, it started to look somehow... worse. I don't think it was disease because the deaths were spread out by a few weeks. If anyone has any idea what happened please post because I am looking for closure and want to figure out if its worth trying again.
