hi i think discus are one if the most fancy fish u can get are they really that hard to keep should they b left to the more experinced fish keeper??

Hi Nick. Unlike what most people think...discus arent that hard to take care of. If its your first time with discus, go with a barebottom tank with 6-8 young discus. THey dont have to be in low ph like most say, im getting a load of discus next sunday that are raised in 7.6 water. Clean water is a must, waterchanges 3 times a week or more, preferably more. Feed several small meals a day. Keep all water parameters the same, dont change things once the discus are there, that will stress them...other than that, its not hard. I LOVE IT! (i wouldnt say i was an expierenced person either, but i know when to ask questions. Go too simplydiscus.com/forum its great)

o right cool 3 times a week thats a lot but i want to keep fish more challening like cichlids so i can effentually get marine fish

i also forgot to add somthings. Make sure you get your discus from healthy places and reliable sources, most lfs arent good to get discus from. 3 times a week is not that much for discus, ive started every other day, and everyday sometimes. ITS VITAL TO HAVE CLEAN STABLE WATER. if all is well, you will have beautiful discus and i hope you do.

now when we talk water changes is it just that or do you clean the tank also...I have 2 discus right now...I had to seperate them due to the turquoise being a bully to my pigion blood...I only do water changes once a week (plus the occasional clean if the sand looks dirty...live plants are messy....) but they are both doing very well ...inquisitive and active (i thought the blood was mildly retartded but since he has been in his own tank he has become more happy and active)both are growing well and are beautifuly colored....so I dunno.....maybe Im just lucky.......

..

as long as your water is stable, and have good tankmates for them, they be fine!
