I was talking to a fishkeeper yesterday, I told him I'm interested in getting the Juwel Rio 400 and would lke to keep discus. I asked how many for that size tank.... He said 6... no more than ten though. I think six would be ideal. I hate to see an over populated tank... Whats your thoughts....
The whole notion of discus is new so your opinions and advice would be greatly welcome

Yes The rio 400 I have is ideal for Discus but pplease think again I have had trouble as have many others if you look here for Jewel with the bars moving.

Mine is okay but if you have more money spend it on the best.

Yup, he's basically 100% correct. If it was set up as a bare tank it would hold 10 discus fine.6 sounds good, lets you have plenty of room for other fish! Also with my juwel rio 400 I had to order new brace bars in costing 30 pounds, drained the whole tank and glude them back on :/ Before that the glass was bowing over a cm

The general rule is 1 adult per 10 gallons of water, with a min tank size of around 55g.
