hello

i have a 180 litre tank and i was looking to start with some discus, as i have kept fish for few years and was looking for something a little more challenging.

i think i will put around 4 or 5 in and was wondering what ones would be a nice variety, but good for starting out with

if you have any suggestions that would be great.
Thanks :)

180 litres is about 35 galls, is that right? In which case I'd try not to put any other fish with them, as it's not as big as would be ideal - many suggest 10 galls per fish as a good starting point particualrly if you're new to keeping discus. But they do do best in groups.
I don't reckon theres any difference in terms of hardiness, assuming you don't get wild discus. Pigeon-blood based ones don't darken or show stress bars, so some people reckon it can be more difficult to guage how they're really doing - however, personally I think that is picking at anything to help you choose!
