Discus Spawning

My pair used to spawn on my internal juwel filter today i have removed this and replaced it with a upside down plant pot, it seems to of coursed some stress as the female and male are both showing light stress bars (they never show stress bars at all) they are also looking around the tank frantically for a spawning area.

What would be a good make shift similar to the juwel casing as i dont want to cause them too much stress, she is even eyeing up the magnet for cleaning the algae off

If it were me, i'd look at probably using some slate for them to spawn on.

I agree, slate should work, just set it down on a tank wall.

I will try and get some tomorrow thanks at the moment i think shes either going to lay on the tank glass or the magnet

my mum and dads discus lay on the magnet all the time even when there is slate in there it order pends what they like more and what postion it is in because the magnet is in a upright postion its easier for her to lay the eggs on plus she can see the eggs alot btter aswell,we tryed a cone in with ours they didnt seem to like and they were more scared of it when they had there babys the mom would brush the babys on it so she could have a break amusing to watch.try slate but make sure its tall enough so its not tooclose to the bottom of the tank and also stand it upright it will take a week or two forthem to get used too it being in the tank.but dont worry if they do lay on the magnet hope this helps

Thanks for the advice shes eyeing the magnet up more than anywhere else so she will probably just go for that option lol but hopefull she decides to use the pot first lol

If the pot is not tall, chances are she won't use it. Is it a breeding cone?

No its just a large pot but its about as tall as most cones i have seen
