Hello! My first post here!

Great forum! I currently have a 175 litre tank with some discus's and neon tetras and a couple clown loaches.

I wat just wondering if this could be an acute or starting the hole in head disease?

Thanks for your time

Yep, it looks like it may be HITH. Normally HITH is caused by improper diet, or bad water quality. Start feeding them a wider variety of foods, and increase tank cleaning. We caught this in the early stages, so it shouldn't be too hard to get rid of. What are your water stats? What are you feeding? What do you normally do for tank maintenance and how often?

Ive been told also that Carbon spounges in filters are a cause of HITHD! Good luck

Doesn't look like to me. Looks more just like a scrape. In either case, make sure you keep your water clean. I had similar marks on my discus at times. If it were HTH, I would have had it years ago.

That look smore a like scrape to me too.

That stated, either way it's easy enough to fix. Put a bit of aquarium salt in the water, and make sure to do your regular water changes. It should go away on it's own, provided you are taking care of the tank. ;)
