Would Discus eat the fry of a Guppy? Would the Discus eat the adult Guppies too?

Thanks!

They would probably eat the fry, not the adults, the temperature differences would be a problem, Guppys need it much cooler.

Also, why mix the cheapest tackiest fish on the market with the most expensive classy fish on the market lol? :p

Darn. And I don't know, I guess it's because I've always wanted Endler's :p

I've got guppy fry in with my discus, they are about a 1cm-1.5cm, discus dont even notice them. Im sure they'd go for a new born and deffo not adults. And whats wrong with mixing them, can get some very colourful guppies and they'll be at the top of the tank, discus in the middle, some nice cories at the bottom, cant go wrong

I really want a stingray for the bottom, but my tank isn't big enough >_<

Its kinda like to me, having caviare with chips, chips can be quite nice, but you know what i mean lol

One thing the Discus won't appreciate is hyperactive sex mad guppies in there otherwise peaceful domain.

I reckon if you are to do it, you need to do it with that real nasty bright blue and green gravel, a marine back round, a ceramic car as the centre piece and bright orange and yellow plastic plants :p haha

Haha. That'd look terrible :p
That reason I was thinking about guppies is that then the discus will have some form of entertainment of catching prey :p
Also, since I'm doing black backround and black sand, the bright neon Endler's would look nice. I'd be a nice change of pace from the usual neon tetras.

My discus take no notice what so ever of mine, so unless you had a huge group of guppies i dont think they will be bothered  cos they stick at the surface mainly, maybe something like danios will annoy the discus, Also just cos they are cheap doesnt mean a thing, only cheap cos they are so easy to breed

There is still the temperature issue that i said earlier, Guppys prefer much cooler temps (as do Danios that where mentioned also).

Its very doable, but it is like having pink fluffy dice and a nodding dog in your Ferrari :p

Endlers however, are a bit more classier than guppies imo, but also smaller so may be seen as food.

Ya. I might go to the store and get like, 4 to see how they do and if they do well. If they do well I'll get more.
Do you have any suggestions on what to keep with them other then the usual neon tetra?

my guppies are doing fine in the higher temps.

And cories and rams are perfect, bettas aswell are ok i think, had one in with mine in the qt tank, betta was scared of them, n a betta wouldnt be able to do much damage to a discus if he had a go, would just flair and swim about like a hard man, weather or not the discus would have a go at him i dunno didnt see that

also i dont get your whole, mixing crap with good, when i get my light unit sorted ill upload a vid of my tank, ent the same as what your sayin lol, no offence obv thats your opinion :good:

Again Bettas are barely Tropical fish, let alone keeping them at Discus temps is pretty cruel.

Best bet is Sterbai Corys, Cardinal Tetra or Rummy Nose Tetras, German Blue Rams....I kept Clown Loaches and Angels with mine, the Angels would shoal with the Discus.

As for mixing cheap with expensive (not crap) is personal choice, but its still cruel to the guppies keeping them in a non suitable environment.

Well they are all swimming a round happy as larry and eating fine, so doubt im doing anything cruel. I'll take advice obviously but as far as i can tell they aint bothered :good:

Also i personally wouldn't keep angels with discus, all personal exp and preferences, but then thats down to individual fish aswell.

(this is light hearted i aint taking the #101## or being funny, all in good humor, but heres my betta hating his time in 30 degrees, although ive turned down the heater a bit now because i dont have a discus in there anymore :p)

Anything can live in higher temps for a short time period, it is still cruel if its unnatural for the fish, i'm sure many people here will back what i said.

Actually i take that back about Bettas i just read they can be kept in anything from 18c to 28c, didnt know they can live in such high temps.
