Hi All,
I have been pondering about having some discus fish recently, and was just wondering, what a suitable sized tank would be to house a few of them and how much the tank would roughly cost.

Cheers,

Ant

I'm certainly no expert on discus but I think you need at least 55 gallons. They are also very delicate fish and more for the experienced fishkeeper as they have special needs. Here is the profile from this forum on them. Not sure about the tank cost over there.

For a pair min of 30 gallons.Add atleast 10 gallons for each Discus. If you have a 55gallon tank + 5 Discus with good filtration and regular water changes they should they would be fine.Could probably add a few cleaner fish aswell.http://www.fishforums.net/Discus-the-King-Of-The-Aquarium-t188758.html
My discus article...A bit more detailed!

It's also worth pointing out that Discus are VERY sensitive to water conditions; many successful aquarists let the tank cycle then mature for several months before introducing them. Very regular water changes are required, too. Do a LOT of research before deciding whether you really want to keep them.
