Well, everyone was right, my discus were courting and this afternoon after coming home from the shops there is a line of orange eggs against the back wall of the tank! I think it was the water change I did this morning that made them finally decide to 'do the deed'
Anyway I have NO idea what I'm meant to do next....I've seen them eating a few of the eggs -_- but hopefully I'll have some left!
So what now!!!

:kana: :kana: :kana:

:) the parent of discus sometimes eat their eggs if they feel unsecure, or the eggs not been hatch(the eggs color turn into white),or eggs infecting by fungus.
I hope u can keep well the water condition, and u can give a few drops of anti-fungus,
do you see a very small black dot inside the eggs? what color of the eggs right now?

the eggs at this stage are just plain orange.....she is still laying them...she hasnt eaten any really, just sort of cups her mouth over them..Im going out now so I will give you an update in a few hours time! :)

thats fine condition, keep your water constanly, change water regularly to keep your water freshhhh.... :p the parents clean up their eggs from fungus and spray them fresh water. B) keep in touch ok..........

ok there are black dots now....is this a good thing? Im so excited

IM worried about my snails getting to them though should I get rid of my snails?

If you want to raise the discus fry, I would go with a bare bottom tank with the parent discus only in the tank.
I see from the pictures that you have Neons in the tank with them. I had Neons also, and when the parent discus are not looking they would fly into the nest of wigglers and eat them. I never had free swimming fry in the community tank. I have had freeswimming in their new tank which is a barebottom tank with just them in.

It sometimes takes the parents several tries to get it right, so if they eat the eggs do not worry.

Good luck with them.

I also wonder about my snails getting to any eggs I have laid. (not me, my fish) The other day, my angels bred, and the next morning, all the eggs were gone. I'm pretty sure it was the parents, due to first time spawning, but I did see a snail in the midst of it all, and the snails have eaten my Corydoras eggs before. Should I remove all snails or what?
Sean

yes, miss claire and sean...u should get rid off another fish (pleco, neon tetra),and snail except the pair of parent.
miss claire, how about the eggs now? they should be hatching now, black small dot u looking at inside the eggs make sure the eggs fertilized well, thats a good thing.
are they still in the community tank???
today, the eggs from my two discus pair had been hatching.
now i have a hundreds of juvenile at my farm :D  :D

Got home yesterday and they were gone :byebye:
Oh well, I guess they didnt stand a chance in a community tank...but they did so well for a couple of days! So close! They got eaten like on the last day (i suspect a few culprits in my tank)...
Im sure they will try again soon!

 im sorry about that...........
if u raelly want to raise the fry, please u can put the pair into another tank, only them with another fish or snail and plants.......
ill post my pic to you, if i can find it.
in 4 - 5days they will try again, prepare well for that time, ok..
thanks for share it...
PS: one pair of mine had laid eggs today and eggs from two pair hatchs again today.... :D
