I recently reported bullying and now see why eggs.

This is the second time ( 1st in this tank ).
The eggs were layed on a large leafed plant, which had a slight brown covering. Unfortunately they are eating the eggs. My two smaller discus have now been removed and only neons corys and a plec in tank ( see signiture).
What advice can you give on breeding. Should I put in an upturned flower pot or somthing? should I let them eat the eggs or remove them? How long normally till they try again and how long from eggs to fish.

Sometimes the parent discus will eat the eggs when other fish are in the tank.

You will also have problems with your Neons. After my eggs would hatch the Neons would sneak past the parents and eat the wigglers.

Sometimes it takes several spawns till the parents get it right and do not eat the eggs, and sometimes they never do.

Good luck.

best to breed a pair dicus is in a 20g tank with nothing but them self and something for them to lay eggs on. A sponge filter should apply in breeding tank. Also dont be supprise if you fail the first few time. (fungus/mistaken on sex(two female discus together)/not properlly fertilizing those egg) all this will happen for young discus. My current discus tank are not for breeding due to my local water have extream high ph of 8 :(. In future probably I would give it a try if I can get another better filter with peat and stuff. Good luck to ya.

Getting then to lay is not a problem it all the stuff thats comes after, females need to lay every 6/8 weeks or else they become egg bound.

Its usually finding a male to do his marrital dutie which is the problem

I,m after a new male becarse mine is to greedy and prefers to eat them rather than fertalize them.

Good luck
