My discus always spawned on the filter pipe too. The fry will live off the yolk sack for two to three days after that they start seeking out the parents, they feed off the parents sides for five or six days, after that I gave them newly hatched brine shrimp for first food three or four times a day, until they were able to eat crushed flake or daphnia. Some of them also ate crushed flake from day 8, but it’s a bit messy so a lot of water changing was needed. It’s a beautiful sight to see the babies feeding and the care the parents take is wonderful. The problem is that on average there can be between two and four hundred babies. I didn’t have room to house that many, they would have been stunted or ill had I kept them cramped. The other thing I did was move the filter as the fry would have ended up in it. (the filter was a big one) I left the bar they spawned on in place and got a new one for the filter. Good luck with them don’t see why some of them wouldn’t survive.

How are they going? dont feed until day 7, then feed live bbs 3 times a day then when they reach 23 days old feed beef heart mix very finely grated from frozen, then from 35 days old start feeding tetra prima as the first feed of the day and then 2 beef heart feedings a day, by now they will be 1 1/2 inch long.
sorry iv only just noticed that this spawn didnt survive, good luck next time feel free to contct me for advice![]()
Do you have any other tanks up and running and ready to take put them so they can grow on? ideally they need seperating from the parents after 2 weeks MAXIMUM otherwise they will just continue to try and feed from the parents, which aint good for mum and dad.

Check out my friends site it has all the info you will need, over the next couple of days he will be selling his patented ''Dave's instant hatch'' it comes in 500ml bottles and is plenty for 10 spawns it will certainly increas your hatch rate and it also triggers pairs to spawn. That stuff is mint and works EVERY time.good luck with this spawn

ok, I just feelt a bit funny mashing up a beef heart that is all.
I keep my fire eel with alsorts. Despite it's massive size I is the most non aggresive fish I have ever kept (I have 2 and they are both the same) They love bloodworms like t was the best thing in the world and I keep them both in the same tank with sevs. silver dollars, angel fish, a BGK alsorts. I really love my tank.
