hi, is it at all possible to keep discus with denisonii barbs in a planted tank?
or should i just avoid it, i know people have said its not a good idea, but i have seen tanks with both somewhere on the net, (one of the forums) but i cant find the pic right now.
having not kept denisonii's i dont know how nippy they can be....
i know they might beat discus to the food but im willing to almost hand feed the discus.

In a big enough tank (80-100G) it should work well IMO, Denisonii barbs aren't nippy IME and once settled aren't skittish at all,
I'm pretty sure I've seen some pics on here from someone who keeps them together.

the tank will be a 4x2x2 450L tank. once substrate and everthingis in, i think it will be nearer to 400L. but anyway, its not a small tank and the dimensions will hopefully suit discus quite well. (would you agree?)

i plan on say 6 denisoniis, and maybe 2-4 discus (unsure here, do they need to be in 2's, 3's 4's?) ratio of males to females? and how do i sex them?

thanks for the reply.

Not a ideal mix really...a fast moving species like Torpedos that tend to argue alot amongst themselves...like alot of Barbs and Tetras do...with a super shy fish.

Also theres the problem of the Discus getting food.

Also Discus like still water and tend to like being the biggest fish in the tank...wheras Torpedos are fast water fish that might not be able to take Discus temps.

I have enough trouble getting food to my Severums and Angel because my Silver Dollars are so fast and greedy...Torpedos are even worse!
