I’m concerned about my oldest girl, Maven (1½ yrs) the top of her nose is discoloured. She is regularly a fairly deep purple colour and the area of concern is more a light grey colour. The area is on the top of her head only and goes from the tip of her nose, back aprox. 1cm (in line with her pectoral fin). The texture of the spot looks like its slightly rough as well. I added some aquari-sol to the water and increased the temp to 85 as I suspected it was some sort of slime disease, but I haven’t seen any change in her condition. She is still active although I have caught her resting in the back corner a couple times which I don’t usually see.

Maven lives in a filtered 3.5gal tank, alone, with only some fake plants and gravel. The water conditions are ammonia 0 and pH 7.5.
I’m planning on moving her from her tank to a gal jar and continuing to treat her with the aquari-sol, increased temp water and some salt.

Does anyone have any suggestions of something else I could try? Any help would be awesome, thanks!

+ i'll try and post some pictures tomorrow afternoon.

That is a good like that Kiarra posted.

The only time where I had my female betta losing colour is when she was in a divided tank with a male. She would always go up against the divider nose first, and rubbed her nose so much against the divider that the colour came off. After breeding and separating them, she's had her colour back.

Good luck with your betta.

I have a betta who has some discolouration on what would be his chin. It just looks like his red scales turned to a greyish color. He's been like that for about 7 months and he's fine. Not really sure what ever caused it or what it is but not a problem with him.
