im having problems with my guppies, ive had 2 dead females in the last week, and another 1 tonight but it looked as if her insides were hanging out and she was bleeding from her back. she was heavily pregnant too.

while taking her out of the tank i noticed another of my female guppies has severely lost all of her colour, her body/tail has went from a bright blue to a dull tan colour but she seems to swimming ok.

at the same time 2 of my males are acting up too, sitting themselves in parts of the tank for ages and then swimming normally and repeating this constantly.

all of the other fish in the tank seem fine - neons and pearl danios are as bright ad colourful as always, and when fishing out the guppy were more than enthusiastic in eating my hand!

just done a test there and Ph is about 7.4, ammonia is between 0 and 0.25, no nitrites and nitrates were very close to 0 (maybe a tiny bit above).

i do have alot of other fish in the tank ie Angels but ive never noticed a problem with them and any of the smaller fish.

im having a search around the forum for answers just now but if anyone has any suggestions then im happy to hear them!

How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
You have ammonia reading so how long has the tank been set up.
Check the anus of the livebeaers to see if it's enlarged or red and inflamed,
Any fish produciing long stringhy white poo.
Any fish bloated or thin.
Pale fish is a sign of stress to desease.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.

the tank is 150-160l
tank currently has a dozen small neons
3 glowlight tetras
6 small pearl danios
2 mollies
3 silvertip tetras
6 baby angels
2 male and 2 female guppies (did have 5 females - 3 have now died)
2 baby cories

(im cycling a 2nd tank just now to split this tank.)

the tank has been set up for around 3 months now and has been fine up till now.

the fish were flicking a little last week but have stopped now, although guppies are still dying. it only seems to be guppies though, everything else looks fine.

there no bloating or thin-ness, but there is some white poo. just looks like normal poo except white.

another test today showed no ammonia, no nitrates and nitrites between 0 and 0.25, ph 7.2.

If its guppys wouldn't be surprised if its internal parasites.
Signs of internal parasites are.
long stringy white poo, clear mucas poo.
Being thin or bloated.
Enlarged anus to red inflamed anus.
Worms prutruding from the anus.

What do you feed your fish?
Cook some frozen peas for a few minutes, let cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers and add to the tank.

just now im feeding them aquarian flake daily, and frozen bloodworm every 3 days and its been fine until now!

the poo is white occasionally, i thought they were all pregnant but could possibly be bloatedness? how can i treat internal parasites?

Flakes and bloodworms is a high protein diet and can cause constipation.
I would try the peas first to see if that makes a difference.
You need a vareity of frozen foods like daphnia which is very good for digesting a fish food, and brime strimp good.
Also you can introduce some veg into there diet.

If the guppys do have internal parasites camallanous worms there isn't a med available, only from a vet.

I had something similar happen to my male, he would fall onto a leaf or something completely unconscious and then get up and act as though nothing was wrong. After about a day of that he went into convulsions and I had to put him down. The problems with mine have been poor quality guppies - inbred, mass produced, sick fish. Have the guppies been there since the tank was set up?

i use cucumber and a little bit of carrot ocassionally. alot of the fish wont touch them but the rest seem to love them and spend ages down eating off them. will give the peas a try. does it matter what kind of peas?

the guppies ive had the longest are fine and are still happily swimming about, ive noticed the ones that dies were all from the same shop and bought within a week of each other. so maybe thats the problem..

Frozen peas are the best.
