Without going into a lot of detail - established small tank same 5 fish for last 10 months - 80 degrees. ph 7.4 other tests indicate no chemistry problems. Water crystsl clear, 1/2 water change 8 days ago, no odors - Everybody was happy and active and eating well. Everybody died over a 36 hour period, but one at a time - each fish was the same - looked fine - a couple hours later looked bad - a couple hours later - dead. No marks of any kind on the fish.

Any ideas?

Maybe a rogue bacteria has killed off all the good bacteria. Had you added anything at all in the last few weeks? Maybe tried an unknown brand of food or treat? Added a plant or two? Changed all filter media at the same time?

The only thing was the water filter change - must have been something in/on the new filter or water. Nothing else was different??? It almost has to be some kind of bug since things went one at a time. I'd think a chemical would have made the entire tank look sick even if they died at different times. Thanks for the idea!

So you changed the filter for a brand new one (or just the media inside)? If so, bingo, theres your problem!
