Did a good clear up in my tank today - took out about 1/3 of the water, then took all the plants and ornaments out for a bit of a clean up. I pruned the plants a bit and tried to pull off some of the hair algae, which the ottos won't eat.
Whilst everything was out of the tank, I did a quick count up of the fish, and could only find 2 of the 3 ottos. I thought one must have died as they haven't really been eating, but I didn't find a body.
I finished the clean up, put everything back and put the new water in. It was very very cloudy at first as I'd stirred up the gravel loads during the gravel vac. When it all settled, I had another good look, and lo and behold, all 3 ottos were happily clinging to the glass
No idea how he could have hidden when there was nothing in the tank!
