On Sunday we bought 5 sparking gouramis for my small tank. (and a rescue panda cory who had been laft on his own! he's only in there til my community tank is free of whitespot though)

i had to drop my sister home so my boyfriend went and acclimatised the fish. I'd said hi to my parents so by the time I got back they were already in the tank, I could only see 4 after looking but I wasn't worried, 1 was probably shy due to the move, or so I thought!

From then on I could only see 3 little gouramis in the tank, it was driving me mad so today we've done a water change and moved all of the plants around. No gouramis. they're not in the plants, the filters, they haven't jumped out and we've checked around the sand substrate, so where the hell have they gone?!

Guess we'll never know...

oh, and the only other inhabintants are c.habrosus so I don't think it was them... ;)

I had that problem with my platties. 3 of them have gone missing. I know they can either be eaten or just die for whatever reason and get eaten by the other fish, but you'd think we'd see some reminants of the fish left, right?
Sorry I'm not much help! :p

I had bought 3 golden chinese algae eaters for a 55 gallon big mistake. I never kept them before so I didn't know that much about them and the fish stores aren't that much help I learned that the hard way. This was when I was around 17 yrs old. Anyway I put them in there and like you one disappeared could not find it anywhere. I checked every where you did. Then one night I was watching the tank and I saw another dead algae eater and the biggest one was sucking on him and he was almost all gone so I figured he killed and ate all of the other one and was going to do the same with this one. I was shocked because like you I thought they would be something left but I think he ate everything. Weird! So I'm guessing the other fish had a extra snack. :/

I have to replace my neons on a regular basis because they keep going missing, it's very worrying. :shout:
