i have had 3 fish disapear in like a day. Two guppies and a cory cat fish. they were perfectly healthy, there one minute, but then gone the next. Can these fish jump? Ive never herd that they could. Its just very odd.
1 pleco, 2 platties, 2 corries, 2 female guppies, 3 danios, tertas, black skirt and prisillas, 1 blue gourami, and a visiting goldfish. actually the danios and goldfish are visiting, theyre tank was taken over by algea and some other really nasty stuff, so we are trying to get rid of that. But they lived with the danios before.
I've seen guppies jump but not cories ... if they died from something the visiting fish brought in the bodies might have been eaten by the goldfish (I'm sure you know they will eat anything)
OR
what are your water params? Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite? Adding fish can might a spike in waste levels that the bacteria is not ready to deal with.
all the ammonia and nitrate(trite) stuff is perfect.
ammonia was 0
the bad N one was 0 and the goodish n one was.5. I knew which was whch when i tested, but forgot now, and that was with the goldfish in there.
NitrAte is the "ok" one and 5 is about as good as it get IMO ... Mine are always a bit higher that that even (like 10-20)
Well have you found any bodies yet? If they jumped they couldnt have gone too far on their own ... unless you have a cat or something.
I lost 3 corys not long ago(i suppose from an internal parasite)... one I had a hard time finding because he was inside the "hollow log" decoration and had floated to the top ... I pulled evything out before I found him.
I have a bristlenose plec that I only see about once every 2 weeks (if I'm lucky). He is a master at hiding and staying hidden. I do have one thing to say, however, about the blackskirts: They can be a bit aggressive if they are not in a group of at least 5. I had 2 (the third had died early on) and they literally ate my female betta alive. Well more to the point, they took turns taking bites from her sides and then left her to die. I would suggest either getting more blackskirts, or getting rid of them altogether (which is what I did).
no snails, and the black skirts are visiting as well. theyre tank is being ude by some cichlids, and soon for the kribs that i will be getting to breed.
i do have 2 cats, yet they dont go near the tanks. and i have not found any bodies yet. and i know they are not hiding because we took everything out of their tank to look for them. its sad especially because it was my favorite guppy.
That's strange, I hope you find em.
I thought I lost my neon today. But I finally found that he got under a hollow log and was hiding inside as though it were a cave..but it really isn't ment to be that lol.
Did u check your filter? I had a neon get sucked up once..Not fun. I fixed it so that would never happen again though-hopefully
