Disadvantages Of Part Stocking?

As Title really, just built the 350L tank stand and tank should be here in 7 days Sand is washed rocks and wood been soaking for 2 weeks and the external filter should be cycled in 7-10days.


Stocking think i choosen

4 bolivan rams
4 Apisto aggazi
20 congo tetra
20 harlequin rasbora
10 Marble hatchets
10+ corys


Now for me that a pretty expensive fish shop, was thinkning of adding fish weekly leaving rams/apisto last, I would rather get 10 congos and 10 rasbora and add the other 10 of each in a week or two? or should i just buy 20 of one kind so they get used to big tank?

If you put all in one gone you are likely to crash the tank, and end up doing daily 50% change until things settles. People usually recommend putting in the most docile ones first and aggressive one last. Not sure whether rams or apistogramma are more aggressive but they would go in last. I would get the rasbora or cory first as they are pretty hardy, then the tetra or hatchets. But the hatchets are a bit delicate, so may die if you add too many in one go. You can also argue that the hatchets occupy different place as to the rams or apistogramma, and rams are cheaper, so they might go in before the hatchets. Not sure to be honest, but definite the docile ones first.

Sorry i didt explain my qustion right, the tank has/will be fully cycled the reason im not adding 50% stock is due to money.

My question is a i have to schooling fish tetra and rasbora, i was asking can i do 10 of each to start with then another 10 of eacch say on pay day or just get 1 lot of 20 1st if that makes sence

Can you not continue to dose ammonia until you can afford the majority of the stock? I'd add everything bar the Ram's and Apisto's in one go, and then add them after a few months once things have settled down a bit.

I wouldnt add everything due to not being able to add anything after lol. I dont think it will matter what you add first in that size tank.

You can buy 10 of one species and 10 of another and then top up the numbers later, no problem. The later additions will soon find their own kind and shoal with them.
