Hi

This may be a completely mad, loopy, insane and weird question but I was wondering if I could use the dirty water from our tank water changes on my plants? :flowers:

I can't really see any reason why not but I thought I would ask - just incase anyone can see any reason why I shouldn't (apart from the local cats becoming quite interested in my plants!) Obviously I wouldn't use the water if there were meds in it.

I'm conscious that we are tipping quite a lot of water away after our regular water changes and thought that I could be environmentally friendly and reuse the water.

Apologies if I am very slow on the uptake and am thinking of doing something that the 'old hands' on here have been doing for eons!
:stupid:

Cheers!

Hi,

If there are no meds in the water, then I cant see why not. Unless someone knows otherwise?

Yea, its fine, as rfisher says no meds in water, will be fine,

i do it as well, well my mom tells me, I would just chuck it on the lawn outside !

it acctualy helps your plants, as the nitrates and other stuff that is in the fish tank water acts as a fertiliser

Exactly
The waste your fish produce will actually help fertilize your plants. On top of that, the tank water contains no chlorines that would otherwise harm your plants!

Not only it isn't bad for your plants, it's actually better than tap water!

All our water from changes goes on watering the plants and flower beds, as already said, it has lots of nutrients in there for the plants
