Dirty Spray Bar, And Filter Pipes

My tetratec 1200 external filter since being set up has brown gunk all in the filter pipes leading to the spray bar, which when you squeeze the pipes rushes down and into the spray bar.

The spray bar is also covered in brown gunk, the tank is fairly young and only been running for two months.

Is this just due to a build up of poop or poor filtration? and if cleaned is it likely to come back?

The brown stuff is algae, it will come back and needs cleaning every couple of months. Most manufacturers give green pipes / fittings so you cant see the algae and to stop it growing so much.

The easiest way to clean filter tubes/taps is to have a look on eBay and type in 'trumpet brush'. These are VERY long and flexible. I bought one about a month ago for about £4 and it's the best money I've spent on the tank. Of course, if you have a musical instrument shop near you, you'll save p&p.
