i have a tank with 2 dinosaur eels, and female betta, and a plecostomus. for about 3 months they have been living together fine. the tank stays clean, none have been aggressive towards eachother, its been great. today i was cleaning the gravel out with the vacuum (we're spossed to get a hurricane this weekend, last time we lost power for about a week so i know the filter will not be running, wanted to get it good and clean before they lose that) and i noticed probably hundreds of small sqiggly worm-like things swimming in the water and in the bucket i was cleaning with. ive had aquariums for several years now and ive never seen that. did the dinosaur eels reproduce? there are plants in the tank and all, so from what ive read about their breeding habits, it seems like it would have been possible...? please answer soon, i need to clean the tank today cuz we're suppossed to get hit tomorrow but i dont know what to do with them!! or if its some kind of parasite or something else, how do i treat it?? help please!! :dunno:

Tank size? Species of birchir? (Birchirs are 'dinosaur eels', but as theres many different types, we need to know which)

unfortunately, a smaller tank than they should have, only 10 gallons. i didnt know they would get so big when i got them, their still small now but i guess when they get bigger i need a bigger tank. for now their fine, none fight or anything. i dont know the species...? but i need to know today what to do with them cuz tomorrow i lose power for probly a week

ok i cant figure out what kind it is... but im pretty sure they had babies... what do i do with them? they seem to small to take out with a net... is there any way they could harm the rest of my fish? any type of parasites or anything like that maybe? the tank is clean and all... i dont really plan on raising them, i didnt even mean for them to be there, but if its not that hard (i have many other pets and now a hurricane, not alot of time to devote to them) how hard would it be to care for them? what should they eat? thanks...

After having a look at the Index, I can say the following things-
1) Its not massively likely they've bred
2) They're going to need a massive tank

I'm guessing another thing to look at, is if it is Anchor worm? Is that the worry you had about it being a parasite? I've never seen Anchor worm (and I hope I never see them in my tank!), or your eels before, but that's just another thing to look into. Just trying to help! B)
