:D sorry pppl i thought it said what i wanted to breed lol. I want to bredd my Upside down CATFISH :p

Breeding: There have been a limited number of successful spawnings in an aquarium. Females are larger, are paler in coloration, and have a plumper more rounded body, particularly when ready to spawn. Preparation with live foods, and softening the water to mimic spring rains will increase the odds for success. An overturned clay flowerpot or two, or even some PVC pipe, may be offered as a possible spawning location. Parents may be left in the tank after spawning, as they will tend to the brood.

The eggs hatch in approximately two days, and the fry will feed off the yolk sac, which they carry for four days. Upon the fourth day, they will begin eating freshly hatched brine shrimp. In two months the fry will begin swimming in the characteristic upside down fashion of adults.

My female is looking fat andit says here shes ready to spawn.
Itll only be her, a few cories and 2 gouramis in the tank along with the other upside down cats of course...

Just wondering if you guys think i could manage to breed them following the guidelines?

ive been talking CFC of what i need to do and we've worked out WHAT i need to do.. now its just the how!?

the problem is i have 2 tanks a 7gal and a 12gal.. the 12gal has 2 honey gouramis in it, and 4 cories...

the 7gal has 6 small asian rummynoses... 3 khulis, 2 ottos and a betta.

My problem is that if i get them to spawn in my 12gal, i have been told that the parents will eat the eggs or the cories will... is this true? o could i move the eggs to a diff. location after?

i was told by someone else that the parents should look after the babies... which one is it???

If i could move them to the 7gal that would mean having to move the other fish into the 12gallon, but i cant do that because the betta cant go in with the gouramis. so theers the problem...

I don't think you mentioned anywhere in that post what fish you're talking about but if the problem is the betta move him to a bowl until you're done. Use a sponge filter and put it in your main tank for a week - then move it and the betta into the temporary bowl. He should be fine in there for as long as it takes to breed whatever it is you want to breed. Make sure the bowl is at least a gallon and heated or in a warm room and that you do change his water regularly to keep him in good shape while in the tiny home. I'd reccomend you buy a new small tank with a sponge filter and small heater of about 5 gallons for the betta or wait until you can re-arange your current fish without problems before breeding the whatever. :p

Oh I see it speaks of upside down swimming and you mentioned upside down cats so I suppose these are what you are wanting to breed :p

Can't be a betta because first line reads...

"There have been a limited number of successful spawnings in an aquarium"

:p

lol :p... i kinda have a tad of a problem then unless my goes soft over christmas and lets me have another small tank. I cant even have a bowl... too much electricity. (heater light filter etc....)

i had an idea.... once gettin rid of the mollies and tetras... could i just move the cories to my 5gal temporarily because they would eat the eggs otherwise. and just leave the upside down catfish and 2 gouramis in it??

then when i put a tube in it to lay her eggs in ill make sure the gourami dont fit in it lol
