OK, so in my new livebearer tank i've got 3 guppies + 1 CAE - it's very very close to being cycled - however, one of my guppies now has white spot so to treat it I need to remove carbon from filter.

Will the cycle complete all the time there's no carbon in the filer???

Thanks in advance

Well it dosn't help having to add a whitespot meds but it shouldn't mess things up to much, the black carbon is only for removing meds, you don' even have to have it in the tank, I only ever use it to remove meds, as it's expensive and you have to change the black carbon every six weeks or the toxins leak back in to the tank.

Really? So it's better to remove the carbon all together - I've never heard of removing the carbon before? I thought it was an important part of the filter system.

An expensive part of the filter, trust me you don't need it all it's good for in clearing meds out of the tank.
My water is still crystal clear without it.
