Hello all, basically after watching how the different guppy's in my tanks behave I've noticed there's one that's a bit of a... meanie! She's more aggressive towards all of the others guppy's, even the male!

She's a Black Phantom Delta, pretty boring colours of black tail and silver body. She's very healthy, had babies about 3 or 4 days ago and they're separated now. I've noticed that she's chasing the other females around the tank, quite aggressively until they are hiding amongst the plants. She even chases the male sometimes when his attentions turn to her. The other two females are Flame Tails, similar tail shape to her but they're bright red, with a yellow body.

My question is, are some types of guppy more naturally aggressive? Is the one I have just a moody little so and so? Or is there another reason?

Not that I've noticed in my own guppies. They do become more aggressive surrounding the time when they drop their fry. But individual guppies do display personalities and quirks.

I used to have a sunrise guppy and she was the leader of the pack. My blue tailed guppy would follow her anywhere and get in a panic if she wasn't there. The sunrise died and my blue tail would follow everyone... but now she is the old lady and leads the pack (albeit, with much class and dignity. LOL)

Hmm, maybe she's a bit scatty after having her fry the other day still then! awww hahaha, maybe guppies are like elephants :p they have a matriarchal figure that all of the females follow like your blue tail...and my BPD female has been nominated for this role. Judging by the way she behaves she's no role model at all, she's most relaxed when she's snooping around the sand with the baby cories :D

So she's top of the pecking order; she's not going to damage the other guppies seriously by chasing and pecking at them is she?

I'd say it's not the fact that they are more aggressive as my old Black Phantom Delta girl was peaceful as ever.
I've noticed that my females(only have 2 at the mo, 1 jumped :/ ) have a certain order. My Red Blonde girl is bottom and eats with the Threadfin Rainbows and the baby guppies but my other girl eats before everyone else and if anyone tries eating before her she goes nuts on them XD

I have a platy that hates her own kind and would chase all the others around, she lives with the guppies now and falls into their pecking order without complaint.... and they are all far less bossy than Grumpy Mrs Platy. LOL
