am i wrong in having tiger barbs and guppys together? i am thinking this wouldnt work very well!!
Tiger barbs do not make good community fish. They are extremely aggressive and would most likely kill the guppies. About the only way to keep tiger barbs in a community tank is to have enough to spread the aggression.
i dont think my local place will have anything like that, any more "really common" ones that can go with my neons?Pentazona barbs look similar to Tigers but are no where near as aggresive
would guppys be ok with neons?Yeh pentazona barbs are very peaceful - they prefer to be in groups of 5+ and like a space to swim in but with cover i.e. plants, driftwood etc

cheers, i am near swindon and chippenhamHi Paul,
Guppies will be fine with neons.
I agree with sid.sarah, you should look around for a shop with a wider variety. There are thousands of varieties of aquarium fish out there.
Where are you? Maybe someone else on here will be local and can recommend somewhere.
Cheers

Guppies will get along fine with tetras but some tetras may not work with guppies. Notorious fin nippers such as serpaes and buck-tooth tetras wold not be good tank mates for guppies. As mentioned, the neons will work fine. All guppies are compatible with tetras![]()
