she dropped her fry in the birthing tank whilst i was away for the day, obviously some hid well and survived, as i got home and had a look in the tank she was having a massive feast on her fry (damn it) anyway tranfered her back to the main tank went and had a look for some fry and only found 4. Oh well 4 is better than none.
shes a silver molly and ive witnessed breeding with the male silver molly, but the four fry are
1 thats gunna be silver
2 brown fry
1 light orange

she was the only fish in the tank and there was no fry in there prior to her going in there, so they have to be her fry.
logic is telling me that the 3 which are different colours are throw backs from maybe black molly and those orange ones that you dont see a lot of in LFS in my area.
can anyone confirm this????????
she was in a tank with two male platy when fell pregnant but i really dont think its them as the issue of both species mating is unlikely

Both species mating is impossible as far as research and documentation have gone on thus far. Do you know what the father's apperance was for the fry? If not, it's really a crapshoot and you can end up with a lot of different fry. I have a yellow Molly that has generally yellow fry with a few black accents, although I have two, one that is completely black with silvery/bluish accesnts and one that his yellow in the front and black in the back. You can end up with quite a few combinations.

sorry but havent got the gist of this part of the response??? i dont mean to sound rude but it was the only way of placing my response  :D

Well if the parents was a cross of different lines then it's very easy to got loads of different coloured fry from them.

If they have been line breed they will breed ture

A molly will usualy produce 30-50 fry but they will happily eat most of then if that can catch them, which sadily it sounds like your have :(
But 4 is still good and you have some lovely colours soon from then the sounds of them.

Good luck
