Difference Between Thin Vals And Giant Vals?

I was wondering what the differences were, if any, between Thin Vals and Giant Vals? Apart from their obvious differences in appearance, are there other differences? Is one hardier than the other?

Also, do these plants actually propogate? I've read that the thin vals do grow out shooters, but I've had some thin vals for a few months and they are yet to grow shooters.

Both will sprout runners given that the plant is happy, my giant vallis propergates all over the tank! I have never found vallis to be that fussy myself and have had it grow well in many conditions.

I have some val. Spiralis -thin and val. gigantae (I think) -thick. I find that the thin stuff never gets more than 12 or 14 inches in height, while my thick stuff can get upwards of 4 feet.
