Difference Between Pikes?

What is the difference between the pike cichlid and the esocid pike??

Well for a start they belong to completely different families:

Pike Cichlids > family Cichlidae

Pikes (Esox spp.) > Esocidae (various Gars and Barracuda are also in this family).

They use the same common name, but have nothing to do with each other, just like aquarium 'sharks' like the red tail obviously has nothing to do with sharks beyond the name.
