the fish dude told me to put 1 cap full of anti amonia every month when u put 2 cap fulls every 1 week im going to kill him

I'm sure it would tell you on the bottle....

not really worth killing someone (or threatening to)

Why are you using it anyway?

stresses the fish... make sure you have lots of oxygen supply in the tank..

i realise its to remove ammonia - but why does he have ammonia in the tank?

over stocked - not cycled? equipment failure? just wondering.

maybe cause my fishes pee out ammonia?
Chemicals are not the solution, so IMHO both you and your "fish dude" are wrong. To remove ammonia created by fish waste, rotting food, etc, the best and only (again, IMHO) way to remove the ammonia is through water changes. Not the addition of chemicals. The only time I add any chemical to my tank is my dechlorinator during water changes. And if needed medications (I have yet to need to medicate my tanks. *Knock on wood.*) Adding aditional chemicals stresses the fish and should be completely unneeded.

Yes, your fishes DO pee out ammonia. That is why you "cycle" a tank. You establish colonies of 2 varieties of beneficial bacteria that 1) convert the ammonia to nitrite, which is still toxic to fish and 2) convert the nitrite to nitrate which is less toxic to the fish, at least until it builds up to unacceptable levels. This build-up is avoided by regular partial water changes. (This is a very "rough" description of nitrogen cycling, others here can give you more details). However, there shouldn't ever be any need to add chemicals to the water to neutralize ammonia. As everyone else has already pointed out, chemicals are just stressful to the fish.Stressed fish are more prone to disease

thats what i wanted to hear.... You need to do a bit of reaserch i feel...

There is no real reason to be using an ammonia removal chemical at all. once the tank is set-up correctly and running, the only time MIGHT be if one of the things i listed above happened.
