I was at an excellent fish store, been there a couple of times. This time I seen some bettas and they ranged from $5 to $30. The more expensive ones are different types and come directly from Thailand. I thought there was only one type of betta. Can't remember all the different types, but there was at least 5 different ones there. Some had beautiful full rounded fins. It was neat, if I knew this I would have bought one, but did not bring enough money with me, just enough to buy my 2 german rams i wanted.

There' different betta tail types if thats what you mean (look on the betta forum:)) and I think there are lots of species of betta- (These are probably wrong so don't kill me :)) betta splendens, betta plakat and some others. Lots of other. Ignore me, I can not count.

There are several wild species of betta (besides betta splendens and it's various color morphs and varieties) - such as betta imbellis or betta bellica - so I'm guessing this is what you are talking about?

i will be going there on friday so i will write down the different types they have there, very interesting names.

I would suggest reading through some pinned topics and other threads in the Bettas forum here.

Three species of Betta? Um.

I pulled that off of the IBC (International Betta Congress) website about the species management program so I do believe that's the complete recognized list, but if you look there are undescribed species' so I'm sure there's more to come
