After a considerable amount of thought I decided to try some plants in my tank. So yesterday I traveled to the nearest decent LFS and purchased 4. Not realizing that there was so much involved, I went for what I thought would look nice... I ended up buying from a tank that the owner told me were "low light plants". (not sure of the names but I think they are mostly anubias and 1 moss ball). Now, one day later I'm doing the research that I should have done before buying but I am happy that atleast I ended up with the lower maintenance plants. What I'm not happy about is that the owner sold me a 3 bottle kit of stuff that he thought I needed. One iron suppliment, one bottle of organic carbon and something called comprehensive supplement. Do I need any of these things at all? It seems according to your "back to basics" in the sticky posts that the only one of these necessary is possibly the iron. Am I correct that I don't need any of this stuff? Is 10 hours of light/day too much or not enought for these plants? Thank you.

Well, you got good plants, by the sound of things..

But you shouldn't need any fertilisers for only 4..

6-10 hours of light should be fine for those plants. I like to use 10 hours because I like the lights on in the evening.

I recently switched to Flourish by Seachem and am very happy with the results. The good thing is that you need very little amounts of it as described on the bottle, so it should last a long time.
