as the title says i am getting diatoms on the glass especially above the substrate and behind my plants and wood and also on the leaves of my anubias. i wipe it off but it soon comes back......
the tank is a fluval roma 240 with a rena xp3 and eheim classic 2215 so gets good water circulation. i dose with 8ml easycarbo and 8ml tpn+ daily and do between 30% and 50% water changes weekly due to my discus needing this. the tank has been set up using mature media from another tank for about 5 months and water stats are good at pH = 8,temp = 30C, ammonia = 0, nitrite = 0, nitrate = 10/20 ish. lighting is standard fluval lights at 2 x glowpower 40W T8, im not sure how old the tubes are as they were on the tank when i bought it.

its driving me nuts and cant seem to control it, can anyone help me out please...........?

Probably a few dead spots in the tank where undetectable ammonia can accumulate, try manipulating the filter flow for better distribution, and manually remove it also, it should shift it within a few weeks.

wow that was quick..........

it seems to be all over the tank but worse towards the back and sides and around the substrate. i have 1 spray bar at the end flowing the length of the tank and 1 at the other end against the back wall flowing towards the front of the tank. both are angled slightly up to aggetate the surface. any ideas?

forgot to mention that the tank is in a conservatory and gets about 7 ish hours of light from the hood, does this matter with diatoms?

i agree with truck. also when was the last time the filter had a good clean. might help increase flow if its gunked.
cheers
