Diagnosis Required Asap!

Errrr.... Protozin, Myxazin, Flubenol, Octozin, Cupramine, Anti-Internal Bacteria, Anti Slime & Velvet. He did have an intestinal worm problem before this though which has probably knackered his immune system. Cost me a fortune this fish...

Thanks for the link. I'm not sure that it is hole in the head tho as these lumps are appearing all over, even on fins.

I agree you have used far to many meds. it can do more harm than good.

The lumps on the fish are they hard, or soft like filled with fluid.
Any redness to the lumps.
Are the lumps beneath the skin or on top of the skin.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
Do the lumps resemble a cluster of eggs, or cauliflower.
What does it look like when your fish go to the toilet.
Are the lumps lifting the scales.

I know i've used a lot of stuff but this isn't the first time i've had problems with him. He first got ill around 18 months ago.

Ok so, the lumps:

They appear to be soft, almost worm like and seem to mostly protrude from under scales. There is some on fins and on scales aswell though.

No redness I can see.

Above the skin.

He does flick a lot, usually when going to the toilet. As for rubbing/scraping, not seen him do this for a while.

I'd say more cauliflower, but seem to appear in random places.

Waste appears normal, brown.

The lumps on his head do seem to be lifting the scales slightly.

Any ideas?

Cauliflower looking growth can be lymthocystis.

If the lumps are soft all I can suggest is isolating the sick fish.
Phone a vet for some antibiotics.
I would only use the antibiotics in isolation.

Also soak his food in garlic juice to boost his immune system.

Is there any excess mucas on his body or gills.
What do his gills look like.

Hi again all,

So I thought the Cupramine was doing the job but i've just taken these:

It's definitely getting worse!

The pics aren't great I know, I only managed to get him out of his tree trunk for some white mosquito larvae. Then I realised the camera on my phone was only set to MMS quality and he'd had enough by then and retreated. He is eating well though.

There is clearly something very wrong, I just don't know what it is!

I did spot some tiny strands poking out from under a few scales, which look like small worms.

Also they seem to form on broken skin/grazes, as you can see in the 2nd pic just below his dorsal. Opportunistic?

Some look like sugar grain, some like mini worms.

Please help!

Use the flubenol again.

You think?

In response to your previous post, he is already in isolation and has been since Christmas.

I am feeding Brineshrimp with Garlic once a week.

I've put together a list of everything I have in the cupboards:

Interpet No. 7 - Anti Slime and Velvet
Interpet No. 9 - Anti Internal Bacteria
Waterlife Myxazin
Waterlife Oxtozin
Interpet No. 6 - Anti White Spot Plus
Interpet No. 10 - Methylene Blue
Seachem Cupramine
Flubenol Powder
API Melafix
API Aquarium Salt

Still go with the Flubenol?

Flubenol treats hole in the head.

How long did you use the flubenol.

Flubenol treat external and internal parasites.

Hi all,

Still not getting anywhere with this poor fish.

I've tried everything!

What else can I do?

Hi again,

I think i've narrowed it down to Lymphocystis.

I've come to this conclusion with none of the treatments working. Apparently there is no available treatment for it, being a viral infection. Unless anyone knows otherwise?!?!

I didn't know much about it until I came across an article in PFK. It's good to be able to finally put a name to it!

The best thing to do is provide the best aquarium conditions possible and let the immune system build up resilience to it naturally and therefore self curing apparently.

I thought he was on his way out the other week but he's come back to life! Eating well and swimming around a lot as opposed to lying on his side in his tree trunk!

Fingers crossed his immune system does its job. :good:
