Hi all, I'm new to this forum so sorry if I have done anything wrong. I have noticed that one of my Dwarf Gourami has a small mark near its mouth which looks like a small spot which is red around the base and white in the middle and it sticks out a tiny bit. I'm not sure if it has been bitten by another one of my fish or if it is an infection. Here is a picture of the fish and the spot (The red area near it's mouth). Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Looks like it could be bacterial... usually red around the edges and white in the middle is an automatic diagnosis of columnaris, but that doesn't look like columnaris to me. A bit more info would be helpful:

When did you first notice this and is it getting any worse?
How big is the tank and what fish are in it? (What species and how many of each?)
Are any of the fish recent additions (when did you last add fish and which ones?)
How long has the tank been set up and did you cycle it?
How many dwarf gouramis are in the tank (that's a male, sometimes males are territorial so there's a chance he got bitten)
The thing that would help us most are your water parameters - ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, temperature and pH.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I noticed it a couple of days ago. It hasn't got any worse and today the redness seems to have died down.

180 Litre tank: 2 Bronze Corys, 3 Black Neon Tetras, 5 Silver Tip Tetras, 3 Glow Light Tetras, 2 Neon Tetras, 4 Male Guppies, 3 Female Guppies, 1 Small Plec, 1 Small Gibbicep, 2 Dwarf Gouramis, (I thought this one was a female lol but if it's a male i've got 2 males) 2 Golden Gouramis, 5 Amano Shrimp

The last additions to the tank were the 2 dwarf gouramis and 2 golden gouramis around 1 month ago

The tank has been set up for around 18 months and it was cycled for 1 month with danios

The other Dwarf Gourami does tend to chase this one around sometimes and looks like it nips it it but it never looks like its actually biting it

Water parameters (Sorry the test kit I have only does Nitrite, Ammonia and PH): PH 7.0, Nitrite 0.0, Ammonia 0.0, Temp 28 degrees C

most likely just an injury. id just keep an eye on it in case its getting worse(then its time to start thinking about treatment options)...for now, just keep his water clean and watch for signs of improvement.
good luck

It probably is the other gourami, 2 males in one tank isn't really good. I have a 200l and i had 2 males one of them ending up being killed after 1 hour. When i fished him out all his fins were nipped (the other male).
It just depends what personaltiy both males have. How long have you had them both in the tank, if that is the first injury then just watch them both carefully. Males will chase each other, my male chases other fish but never actually nips them. Just keep an eye on them :)

I'll keep my eye on it to check for any worsening or further injuries. Thanks for the help everyone.
