Detritus problem

So I got a rescape pn my 10 gallon and a bunch of detritus came up so I did a gravel vac then filled it up well now there is detritus on my plants.Roots leaves everything and ideas on how do eradicate it?

Just do a couple back to back vac/wc. Make sure flow is good in tank.

Does any one know the best way to get detritus off of the bottom with sand substrate. It just looks so dirty and it's hard to get enough of it up without sucking the sand up. Are there any fish that help with this problem?
