Hello! My first post here! I'll start by saying that the tank is my Husband's and I am posting on his behalf and because I'm fed up of things going wrong with the fish tank (which was not my idea in the first place, hence the forum name, I've got 2 chickens. Chickens are easier than fish)). I'll answer the questions as much as I can and to the best of my knowledge. The Husband is at work so it's the info I can remember!

RIGHTTTTTTT - we got this tank 2nd hand about 5 months ago, it was set up for about 4 days before we got any fish (what the aquarium place told us). We then got 3 mollys and 6 something or other elses (name escapes me, sorry). Most of the fish died over the course of a few weeks, and at the same time about 30 molly babies appeared in the tank. These slowly died too until in the end all we were left with was 6 baby mollys, these have lasted-ish, there are now 2 of these left after losing one today. About 2 weeks ago we got 5 neon tetras. We now have 1 left.

We are a bit baffled. We've had problems with green water, so we got a UV filter and altered the blinds in the lounge, the water isn't green now. The tank is water changed regularly, fed every other day, the test strips have been reading ok for a few months and the nitrates are reading as perfect, we got new test strips just for nitrates and they still show as ok.

I'm just looking for any ideas or suggestions or anything really. As I said I'm not the fishy person, my Husband is but I am desperate for the fish to live, I hate losing them.

Any help would be amazing, thanks in advance :D

This is because you haven't cycled your tank.

Follow this link to start the cycle in your tank, and keep new fish from dying.

You should read trough it well and understand.
From what I understand, is that you have fry in your tank?
If so, you are in fish in cycle. If you want to keep the fish, follow this link.

you should get a test for Ammonia, that will be the culprit. i would do a large water change straight away and give the filter pads a wash in the old tank water after you've took it out. make sure you dechlorinate the new water and temperature match it to what's in now. once you get a test for ammonia you will be able to get control of it and get it to 0. your filter needs time to build up good bacteria that eliminates ammonia and nitrites. only thing you can do in the meantime is keep testing and changing the water accordingly
