Do you mean Puntius denisoni aka redline torpedo barb aka denison barb?

If it's an african cichlid you're talking about the only one with a name close to that is Demasoni (Pseudotropheus Demasoni). My avatar is a pic of one - is this what you mean?

That would explain why its in the c*****d section lol.

My bad!

Not neccessarily - my 1st thought was Puntius denisoni

I considered moving it but lets see the response. :D

No problem - one of my personal favourites.

They are a very aggressive species and are best kept either singularly with other aggressive Mbuna or in a heavily overstocked species only tank. They are small by Mbuna standards, only reaching around 3.5-4" - don't let that fool you though, these guys can be vicious especially towards their own kind and fish of a similar appearance.

They can also work well (ironically) with yellow labs, despite being at opposite ends of the aggression scale. I know lots of people who have kept these 2 species together with no problems (in 55 gal tanks or larger). They are herbivores and need a diet with a high spirinula content and no meaty protein.

Hope that helps. :good:

Not a chance - an adult Front would easily eat Demasoni and Convicts have different water parameter requirements - not to mention mixing convicts and Demasoni would be like starting WW3.

Gotta love the lfs's advice!

get them to show you in the shop tank lol, that might make em give out advice thats not based on a profit margin!

THEY HAVE A 2000L DISPLAY TANK WITH CONS, FRONTS DEMASONI CHOCOLATES, GOLD HEADS THE LIDT GOES ON AND ON.....

ALSO, THOUGH I CANT GET A PIC NOW A YELLOW DEMISONI - BLACK STRIPES THE SAME AS THE BLUE ONE BUT YELLOW????

The yellow fish will either be Pseudotropheus Flavus (quite rare) or Maylandia Crabro. If the dark stripes are black - its Flavus. If they are dark brown - its Crabro.

I'm not sure what you mean - there is no such thing as a yellow Demasoni. Both males and females of the species are black and blue.
