after a meal of shrimp and bloodworms yesterday... nothing ever becomes of it, in a community tank... but sure is cool to watch...

Are you able to see them lay eggs? Are they egg scatterers?

they are egg scatterers

Do you have any interest in raising some? You could remove a clump of the spawning medium and hatch the eggs separately. This is another species--like the clown loaches discussed in another thread-- that is difficult to get in condition in aquaria and is usually bred commercially by the use of hormone treatments. Meanwhile we have two forum members each having spawns of one of these two rarely aquarium-bred species!

Mrs. commented this morning that it looked like the Denison barbs were waltzing this morning... with a harem, of them in that tank, there is dancing going on in that tank nearly every morning... nice of her to notice... and she even called them Denison's... I may be rubbing off on her, after all these years...

I'm not positive... the females look plump, and the substrate is coarser river gravel and rock, close to the color of the eggs... I've never witnessed them, but when I watch the tanks, in the morning, I'm watching from across the room... I wonder if they'll dance with my face pressed against the glass like a peeper???
