Hiya,

For the past two weeks have been looking to dimantale my 3'x1'x1' tank due to the following problems. First I attempted my first aquascaped tank and failed miserable, second I added a fert under white sand and now the sand looks permanently dirty cannot deep clean sand as this disturbs the fert and my third
problem is that I have more snails than fish.

Right problems aired my wish is to dismantle the tank take out the substrate, rethink my aquascaping and eliminate snails, tall task but I'm fired up and ready to go but my only problem was that I couldn't locate a
small tank (just the glass aquarium no extra bits) to temporary house the imates.

Didn't want to spend addtion expense in purchasing a second tank as I know how I stay and would not leave it as just a quarantine/fry raising tank, had that problem in the past and ended up with 6 tanks, hubby says if I ever reach to that level again the fish can stay but i've got to go :-( well weekind just gone my neigbour knocks my door carrying a 24"x8"x8" tank, filter, heater and light (my prays had been answered).

A word of warning before buying anything make sure you reasearch about it throughly, I learnt the hard way, to eager beaver, added fert then white sand, a big no no, also did not realise that it would turn to a muddy texture now I no longer have white sand.

The 3 foot had 2 internal filters, 1 was added to the small tank, put a small layer of the sand mixture some of ther bog wood and the heater and done the migration of 10 teras, 3 corys and a pair of Dutch Rams, that don't look impressed of the new abode. As this is a fairly newish setup the stock levels are low, so this is the best time for me to accomplish the refurbishment.

My questions are as follows, do I need to start the cycling process all over again as I completed cleaned it out although the gunk mixture is sitting in a container at present, thinking of putting a layer of the gunk mixture and purchasing a darker sand substate today to put on top. Still have second filter which has not been disturbed, and the smaller tank also can with an internal which is bigger than my second one so thinking of a permanant swoop. Although I have a container of RIO water the remaining water will have to be condition tap water.

How long will I need to wait before heater reaches correct temp. Should I do a water test before adding back fish, and finally question how long should I wait before transfering back the fish.

Advise would be greatly appreciated.
